Chef Gary Shelly grew up on a cattle ranch in Northern California, where he learned early on the value of hard work, seasonality, and respect for where food comes from. That upbringing shaped the way he cooks—rooted in the land, ingredient-driven, and grounded in a deep sense of purpose.

Gary spent 18 years cooking his way through the San Francisco Bay Area, working in some of the region’s most respected kitchens. He got his start at just 18 with an apprenticeship under Mark Sullivan at The Village Pub in Woodside, where he learned the fundamentals of technique, discipline, and leadership that would shape the rest of his career.
